They tried to play Blackbird a couple of times inthe 80s and it came off really really badly. That's the worst one, I think.

I agree with you. Their take on Blackbird was shaky at best. Jude and Baba were nothing to write home about either.

Overall there are a number of candidates here. I love the fact that they had the guts to try new stuff but that approach doesn't mean you're always successful.

I think the reason I Fought the Law is so disliked is because it's like 8 seconds long and people felt gyped if that's all they got as an encore.

Baba was awesome... these are the worst covers:

I don't think I know you rider or eyes of the world made it tape but they were awful also.

There is a whole world outside... If I did not have to sit here to make a living, I wouldn't...

My Worst Holiday Songs ever:

http://www.archive.org/details/Ernys_Christmas

First spoof parody of a christmas carol.

http://www.archive.org/details/Old_Land_Mine

New Years, Great guitar solo at the end though.

http://www.archive.org/details/Ark_Can_Saw_Summer

Wrapped Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor day in to one festive summer motivational hymn for the secular masses.

http://www.archive.org/details/Ernys_Valentine

Erny's love song.

http://www.archive.org/details/Give_Thanks_1

Thanksgiving at the Ernold ranch.

http://www.archive.org/details/Crappy_Birthday

Not really a holiday but every one has one so enjoy. Sure beats the same song we have been singing to each other for hundreds of years.

http://www.archive.org/details/Easter_Egg

EASTER EGG!

http://www.archive.org/details/Black_Irish_Banshee

Saint Patty needs a song me lads and lassies.

See if you can find all the musical genre influences in these joke songs(or are they really sarcastically sinister and awesome for what they are). I recorded these in about 6 days and was going to send them out as a joke for christmas... Happy Holidays

Wow, that is surprising I met more than a few heads that just loved "Blackbird" I am pretty sure Weir is still playing that one with the RATdog

HE plays it nicely, but THEY made it sound like some kind of joke.

to be honest, i only have an extremetly faint recollection of hearing them play it - no recall at all. i'll have to trust you on that one, and i really don't have trouble believing you either that they totally blew it on that one - lol :)

Yea, the groups attempts at the song fell way short for me. That's one of those songs that if you can't play it right, you shouldn't even try. It is one of my favorite Beatles tunes.
Dire, am listening to the Outage show as we speak. That drum/bass solo to start things off is absolutely amazing. This is most definitely in my "Classic" category.

Moon People is making my brain laugh at iself. Love it.

great recording on that Outage show huh? One of Charlie Miller's finer achievments. the bassist, Reed Mathis - from Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, sounds so great with SKB. Hope he joins him again for another tour. He and Rodney really click together for some cool grooves throughout the whole show.

glad you are digging it - one of my favorite SKB shows.
